WELCOME TO OUR JOURNEY
Things have moved so fast, it’s hard to believe we’ve come so far. If we put all our stacks together end to end, they’d eclipse the height of the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa (829m)! If all of our 212 people stood on each other’s shoulders, they’d make it over half way up the Shanghai Tower building (632m).
UNILIA IS FIVE YEARS OLD
We just had our virtual cake cutting! Our teams in Vancouver, Foshan, and Shanghai got together today across 9031 virtual kilometres. It’s been around 158 million seconds or 1825 days since we began our journey. It feels like yesterday, but we’re just getting started.
THIS IS OUR TIME
Today we’re celebrating our anniversary, but we’re also celebrating that finally those who care about the planet are now able to make a difference. The tide is definitely turning, and a new, clean energy landscape is emerging. We’re just proud to be involved and making a difference.
We’ve had our heads down for 5 years and as we look up to catch our breath, we’re seeing the fruits of our hard work realized.
CANADA MEETS CHINA
Back in 2017 an energetic team of fuel cell experts from Vancouver met with passionate fuel cell engineers from Shanghai. These young, optimistic planet-lovers recognized their synergy and a new company was born. We now communicate across the globe daily, nightly - building together, eating breakfast and dinner simultaneously on camera. The age of video-conferencing is truly here, complete with real time translation! Despite ongoing travel restrictions, we’re more connected than ever.
YOUNG VETERANS OF FUEL CELL
We may be a young company, but we’re proud to say we have some of the greatest minds in fuel cell, with PhD’s and postgrads everywhere. If we stepped back in time a year for each of our combined experience, we’d reach the start of the Song dynasty!
MASTERS OF THE STACK
From the molecular to the macro, we’re nuts about every level of our research. We don’t like to rely solely on others’ findings; we dig deeper to get more and more out of every component of our stacks. We’re the masters of testing, testing, one to a thousand! We’ve tested our MEA for over 170,000 hours. This is how we’re pushing the envelope. Because this is how we know we’re building for the real world.
INNOVATORS
We love to challenge the status quo at every level of our designs. Innovation begins with the customer’s requirements then goes right down to the molecular level, even the atomic level. We innovate for assembly, for mass production methods, for quality. We even innovate to build on our quality management systems. Yes, we’re still celebrating our recent IATF16949 and ISO9001 certifications!
FRIENDS OF THE PLANET
You guessed it, we love nature; it’s in our blood. We love to clean up the wilderness on our days off, and on our days on. It gives us a thrill to see vehicles and machinery powered by our stacks leaving the atmosphere as it should be: untouched. Everything we do is for the love of our habitat, planet Earth.
A UNITED TEAM
Our two cultures collided to make something greater than the sum of the parts. Despite the distance, we’re closer than ever, every one of us aligned by a common goal of decarbonization of energy and industry. Our skills and tools are complimentary. Every day brings a new surprise to celebrate.
BUILDING AN ELECTRIC UNIVERSE
We see fuel cell stacks everywhere. Believe it or not, stacks made it to space before they made it to your local zero emissions garbage truck! The first fuel cell was built way back in 1838! So it’s taken a while to catch on, but we’re catching up now. Expect to see fuel cell technology in all kinds of mobility and power systems. From small to big, helping to build a cleaner planet.
CELEBRATING OUR SUCCESSES
Yes, we built alpha and beta stacks, all the way to omega and back. Then we mass produced them from one to thousands! We put them in fuel cell systems. And those went into trucks & buses & all kinds of incredible vehicles. 28 models so far. Hundreds of vehicles in daily operation around the globe. This makes us happy. Knowing that every clean kilometre is one less polluting kilometre. Don’t you want to be part of it too?
